Join FTCLDF and WAPF!

Kristin Canty is a member of the the Farm to Consumers Legal Defense and the Weston A. Price Foundation.  In the movie, you've seen how involved they are in protecting the local farmers.  Their primary mission is to defend the rights and broaden the freedoms of family farms and protecting consumer access to raw milk and nutrient dense foods.   We hope you join both organizations.

Label GMOs!

At the meeting, we introduced you to Pamm Larry who has been spearheading a California initiative on 2012 ballot –  The mission is quite simply to get foods that contain GMOs (genetically modified organisms) as ingredients labeled so that we can make educated choices about the food we eat.

The Santa Barbara Chapter is taking an active role and working to gather volunteers to help the drive to collect signatures.  We will keep you posted on our next meeting on LabelGMOs.  If you're interested in getting involved, please contact us at wapfsantabarbara@gmail.com.  For more information, see LabelGMOs.org.

Selma Rubin

During 55 years of uninterrupted grassroots involvement, 96 years young Selma Rubin has helped spawn or guide at least 42 groups and organizations.  Selma came a little early to set up a table for the Santa Barbara County Action Network (SBCAN).

At the Farmageddon viewing, our volunteers  were scrambling to get the meeting ready for everyone.   Selma noticed the commotion and offered to move by the door and help collect the money.   She was constantly reminding people to pay as the money goes to for the Farm to Consumers Legal Defense Funds and Weston A. Price Foundation to continue it mission!

We feel bad that she wasn't able to educate folks about SBCAN and hope that you will check them out on Santa Barbara County Action Network (SBCAN) to learn a bit about Selma wanted to share with you.   Also you can read about Selma here and hope that you will be inspired to know you are never too old and have a lot to offer in life.  As they say, the more you give, the more you get from life!
